Charles Stone was the ninth child of Benjamin Stone & Sarah Duffell born April 22nd, 1868 in Knutton, Wolstanton, Staffs.
In 1871 Charles & his parents & brothers & sisters were living at Birks Row, Knutton, Wolstanton, Staffs where his father was an iron puddler.
Charles was still living at home at 4 Birks Row in 1881.
By 1891 Charles was the only child left at home at Birks row living with his parents & working as a general labourer.
In July-September 1896 Charles married Hannah Baker at Wolstanton. Hannah was born Oct-December 1870 at Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs, daughter of Eliza & Henry Baker.
In 1901 Charles & Hannah were living at 44 Stoke Old Rd, Stoke-on-Trent & Charles was a railway brakesman. They had 2 daughters by this time – Gertrude (3) & Nellie (1).
Charles & Hannah had moved to 24 Cliff Vale Place, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs by 1911. Charles was still a railway employee working as a yardman. They had 4 more children – all boys, Frank (8), William (5), Joseph (3) & Robert (9 months). Both daughters were still at home.
Hannah died, aged 46, in April-June 1917 at Stoke-on-Trent.

Charles remarried in Jan-March 1918 in West Bromwich, his new wife being Ada Horton. Ada was born February 9th, 1869.
The 1939 register shows Charles & Ada living at 12 Cliff Vale Place, Stoke-on-Trent & Charles was now retired.
Charles, of 12 Cliff Vale Place, Stoke-on-Trent, died on July 16th, 1946 at 578 Newcastle Rd, Stoke-on-Trent. Administration of his estate was granted to widow Ada on August 25th, 1950 at Chester. His effects were £245.
Ada died at 12 Cliff Vale Place, Cliff Vale, Stoke-on-Trent on May 23rd, 1953. Probate was granted on June 8th, 1953 to step-son Frank Stone, clerk & her effects were £152.0s.5d.
